I called the 800 number in the manual, and they put me through to an engineer who knew what the problem was - a "check valve" near the outlet hose that got sticky after the item sat unused for two years. He walked me through how to remove the valve and clean it up, and after that it worked like a charm, and has since then. The tech guy was obviously intimately familiar with every nut and bolt on this machine, and could immediately diagnose and clearly explain how to fix the problem. He offered to send me a new valve no charge, but it wasn't necessary. The Honda engine starts easy every time. I wouldn't have thought to review this product, but I was so impressed with the tech...
